The Arbor Day Foundation, in partnership with the International Society of Arboriculture, and hosted by the NParks of Singapore, have organised the Southeast Asia Urban Forestry Roundtable at the Singapore Botanic Gardens. Drawing upon their existing initiative – Tree Cities of the World, the Arbor Day Foundation together with the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization seek to induct the vibrant tropical cities of Southeast Asia into Tree Cities. Tree Cities around the world are recognized for their foresight and commitment to nurturing green and liveable cities for the 21st century, through holistic and practical approaches. The Tree Cities of the World greatly complements our ongoing efforts to upscale the Rantaian Urban Green Spaces (RUGS) project in the Greater Klang Valley, and MNS and our local partners are most keen to push RUGS forward together with the Arbor Day Foundation and the International Society of Arboriculture.

MNS, together with Free Tree Society Kuala Lumpur, Forest House Sdn Bhd, and IUCN, are honoured and thankful for the opportunity to participate in the Southeast Asia Urban Forestry Roundtable and present on the Rantaian Urban Green Spaces (RUGS) project to the SEA delegates. We at MNS shall surely work towards making Kuala Lumpur and other Malaysian cities a part of the Tree Cities of the World!
