Tree Planting and Trail Building: British High Commission

On 9 May 2025, the Malaysian Nature Society (MNS) hosted a hands-on trail building and tree planting programme at Federal Hill or Bukit Persekutuan. Joined by 15 enthusiastic members from the British High Commission, 50 Merbau trees (Intsia palembanica) was planted in the Heritage Trail – a nature trail in Federal Hill established by MNS as part of the Urban Community Forest (UCF).

The group was split into two teams, rotating between two tasks : clearing and painting the railings along the Heritage Trail, and tree planting to support native forest restoration. The day concluded with everyone coming together to lay crusher run along the trail path, reinforcing the accessibility and stability of Heritage Trail as part of RUGS’ green connectivity and restoration effort.
